Welcome to my Web site!I am a faculty member at the Faculty of Computer Science, Dalhousie University, Canada. I am also the Director of the health informatics graduate program. I hold an adjunct professor position at the Multimedia University, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia). I teach courses about knowledge management, artificial intelligence, and specialized topics in health informatics such as healthcare knowledge management and healthcare data mining. I lead the NICHE (kNowledge Intensive Computing for Healthcare Enterprises) research group. My research interest span across three areas: (1) Knowledge Management; (2) Health Informatics and (3) Intelligent Information Personalization. My research projects have been funded by both government agencies, organizations and industry, such as CANARIE, National Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), Canadian Foundation of Innovation (CFI), Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation (NSHRF), Green Shield Foundation Canada and Agfa Healthcare Canada. Prior to joining Dalhousie my research was funded by WHO, UN, Malaysian Govt.’s program on Intensified Research in Priority Areas (IRPA). My research work led to the prestigious VHK International Award for Innovation in Medical Informatics in Hannover, 2000, for my work on the intelligent composition and dissemination of personalized healthcare information. Also, I have received four Best Paper awards. Prior to joining Dalhousie University, I worked in Malaysia at Universiti Sains Malaysia (1995-2001) and in England at University of Surrey (1993-1994).
